Flash Fiction: Monster on the Bed

Cowering beneath the bed, he waited with shaking limbs as the creature stalked into the room on rubbery hooves. The towering monster settled on the foot of the bed next to the smaller thing already perched above, causing the mattress to sag and creak. The tiny creature on the bed let out a keening wail.

The figure huddling beneath the bed scrambled to cover his ears to block out the horrifying noise. Shaking, he waited with baited breath, praying that the larger monster would leave.

Instead the large creature growled in the a harsh, hideous voice, “Tommy, I’ve told you a million times, there are no monsters under your bed!”
