It’s the end of July and sadly I do not have a finished manuscript yet. Despite this, I haven’t been entirely stagnant in my writing. Since my update last month, I’ve managed to increase my word count to 84,000- already longer than the completed manuscript for my first novel and I still have the final scene to write.
Part of my issue is that I know how I want my book to end, so that tends to drain some of the excitement for me. To combat this, I’ve been trying to chip away at the last section, one or two hundred words in a sitting, usually right before I have to leave for work in the morning. It seems to be working, but it’s slow going. Besides that, we’re going to be driving down to Georgia for the weekend so I might get some writing in during the drive. My luck though, I’ll give myself motion sickness…
How do other writers out there fight through writer’s block and dry spells?
On a positive note, please enjoy these lovely pictures of the lilies in my back yard 🙂
